鋼琴家李希特 (Sviatoslav Richter, 20 March 1915 -- 01 August 1997)

"Richter is a world unto himself, impenetrable yet radiant;

a deep-water fish, blind but luminous.



That he is one of the great pianists of all time is disputed by no one.

He loves movies but not the camera.

He dislikes analysis, talking about or revealing himself.

He is indifferent to current events, politics, praise and worldly goods.



Neither political regimes nor the conventions of the music world

have ever got the better of his wild purity.

Only music, to which he gives life, possesses him.

He plays not for the sake of effect, nor with any deliberate purposes.

He simply plays....He is a free man....."
